As it happened, or as staged?

Turn on your sound for a big clue.

  1. I could hardly stand to watch this - I was so worried about the baby bear, which did seem to be making kind of human sounds - was that the clue? But of course, with all the camera angles they used, it had to be staged.

  2. I thought staged too - but how? The two animals did seem to meet in parts of the clip.

  3. Mrs T was soooo worried. But I'm not buying it.

  4. You are all correct, this is entirely staged using animal actors. To me it's evident that different bear cubs were used, they vary slightly in size from scene to scene (and I wouldn't be surprised if more than one cat was used as well). The sound track is totally fake. How could a wildlife photographer possibly record the unceasing anxious baby bear sounds (which are unlike any sound like any noise I ever heard a bear make) over the ambient sounds of wind in the trees and rushing water if the animal was sufficiently distant to assure it wasn't fleeing from the human and his camera and microphone rather than the cougar?

  5. This actually came from the movie THE BEAR (L'OURS in french), by French producer Jean-Jacques Annaud. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bear_(1988_film).

The much larger bear is Bart. He was well known in the movie business.
